The Weeknd has experienced massive success over the course of the past five years. Now he's using the wealth he's accrued to help causes important to him.
Earlier this week, he made a $50,000 donation to the University of Toronto to help a start a new Ethiopic Studies program. The FADER reports that he has also made a $250,000 donation to the Black Lives Matter Network.
A "chapter-based national organization working for the validity of Black life," the Black Lives Matter Network has an office in Toronto.
The Weeknd is not known for his Twitter presence but he came out in support of #BlackLivesMatter (as well as #BlueLivesMatter) on the social media platform last month.
