PlayStation users across the globe were struck with the untimely tragedy of a glitch that has some losing their minds. The timing couldn't have been worse, as Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is selling with record speed. As reported by PlayStation Lifestyleover the weekend, gamers using the PlayStation Network were sent a message from an anonymous user. The message sent the PlayStation 4 consoles into a “soft lock," causing the system to freeze or reboot constantly when turned on. Most gamers found a simple yet emotionally draining way to fix the issue... a factory reset. Although the hardware will remain intact, a factory reset will delete the entire hard drive. Ouch.

According to PlayStation LifestyleSony responded to inquiries from publications about the incident. The entertainment company responded in an email to VG247, writing, “We are aware of the situation and are planning a system software update to resolve this problem.” The best suggestion at the moment would be to change your messages to “Friends Only” or “No One” so that the glitch doesn't hit your inbox. For those who are already stuck in the frightening predicament and don't want to hit that factory reset, one HNHH writer claims that he placed his PS4 in safe mode and rebuilt the database. Good luck gamers!
