Saturday [September 16] marked producer Metro Boomin’s 24th year of existence, but as he celebrates another revolution around the sun, the super producer decided to flip the script and give fans a gift of his own by delivering on his newest “Blue Pill” single, featuring none other than Travis Scott.

Early Sunday evening, Metro took to Twitter to thank all of his fans “4 bday love and wishes,” one hour later he turned around and announced that he had a “late birthday gift” for all of his supporters. It was back in 2014 that Metro Boomin first prviewed "Blue Pill" at the Fader Fort, and nearly 3 years later, we're given the studio listen of the song after a retreival from the archives.

At the end of July of this year, the two artists were spotted in the studio together, and this is to wishful thinking that the surfacing of "Blue Pill"  signals the resurgence of their hot streak of collaborative efforts that include cuts like Trav’s “Mamacita" and “3500.” At the moment, the Houston rapper is hard at work on two of the year’s most anticipated projects, his solo Astroworld, a follow up to last year’s Birds In the Trap Sing Brian McKnight and the collaborative outing that he's been cooking up alongside fellow Southern chart-topper Quavo.

As for Young Metro, he’s been enjoying a rather successful 2017, dominating the charts and radio with some of the year's most successful tracks, including Gucci Mane's Platinum-certified "Both," Post Malone's 5x Platinum single "Congratulations," Kodak Black's "Tunnel Vision," Future's undeniable smash "Mask Off," and 21 Savage's "Bank Account."

On the full-length side of things, he's dropped off two collaborative projects in the form of his Droptopwop mixtape with Gucci Mane and the Perfect Timing mixtape released in collaboration with Nav. Save for technicalities, we can also count 21 Savage's Issa Album as a heavier part of Metro's discography this year as he handled production on 9 of the 14 track's present on the Atlanta-reared rapper's debut studio album.

Quotable Lyrics

I slipped 4 Xans, you ain't notice
That's why you girls hocus pocus
Take a trip out wild west
No alcohol, lean and soda
