When Eminem released Kamikaze earlier this year, it was a surprise to most people. The rapper works in mysterious ways. Rarely do we ever hear about what he's working on in the studio. When he asked IllaDaProducer for a few beats, Illa obliged as always, sending him a few of his "horror movie" vibes for Em to do his thing over. However, not even Illa had a clue about the album that Shady would drop as a surprise.

Illa sat down with us to break down how he came up with the beat for "Lucky You," which was recently nominated for a Grammy award. He explained that most of his productions start with an eerie piano loop, which is exactly how he began "Lucky You." Illa wasn't sure if any of his beats would actually make it onto a project, noting that he usually sends packs of tailor-made sounds to the Detroit legend to see if he's messing with anything. Everything is communicated over e-mail. Illa says that he only found out he was going to use this specific beat about a month before it dropped, explaining, "With Em, he drops when he wants to. I thought it was going to drop in maybe December, or maybe December of next year. We just dropped Revival in December of last year so I was like, he ain't gonna drop nothing this year."

Lo and behold, Kamikaze appeared from out of the blue. Originally, Illa thought the single for Venom was the only joint to have dropped but it turned out an entire album was released with four of his beats making the cut.

Check out the latest segment of Behind The Beat where Illa goes in-depth about the creation of "Lucky You."
