Wednesday controversial rapper Kevin Gates was slapped with an additional 30-month sentence in connection with an outstanding weapon-related warrant. Many Twitter users expressed their support for the Islah emcee including superstar Future.

Joining the #FreeKevinGates online support community, the Freebandz front man showed love to the Louisiana native. It isn't clear if Future will actually reach the rapper's family but the popular support could potentially help the rapper's image while incarcerated.

Gates has been in and barely out of jail since last year. He was convicted of assaulting a female fan at a show in Florida in 2015. Some time prior to his release, the Illinois Justice Department discovered that Gates had dodged a 2013 warrant for failing twice to appear in court for a gun charge. He also faced a separate "aggravated unlawful use of a weapon" charge.
