If you haven't heard by now, you must be living under a rock, but Eminem came out of nowhere yesterday and released a surprise album called Kamikaze. Executive produced by Dr Dre, the 13-track project finds the Detroit veteran responding to criticism he received for last year’s Revival album and calling out several artists & industry heads throughout the album, including MGK, Lil Pump, Joe Budden, DJ Akademiks, Lil Wayne, Tyler The Creator and more.
While we’ve already highlighted a couple standout cuts from the project like the title track “Kamikaze” & “Not Alike,” another record that’s been making waves since its release is the intro track “The Ringer.”
Over production from Ronny J & IllaDaProducer, Em criticizes the current state of hip-hop, calling out artists like Lil Pump & Lil Xan for copying Lil Wayne. “Lil Pump, Lil Xan imitate Lil Wayne/ I should aim at everybody in the game, pick a name,” he spits. Elsewhere on the record, Em references Lil Yachty and has words for Charlamagne Tha God, saying he’s going hate on him no matter what he says. “So finger-bang, Pootie Tang, Burger King/ Gucci Gang, dookie, dang/ Charlamagne gonna hate anyway, doesn't matter what I say/ Give me Donkey of the Day,” he spits.
