John Moore, a photographer for Getty Images, shot the image of a 2-year-old Honduran girl, which effectively went viral amid the harrowing veracity of Trump's "zero tolerance" policy.
The spotlighted toddler and her mother, whose names have not been released, crossed onto U.S. soil from Mexico last week. They were promptly apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and relocated to a processing centre.
Due to widespread backlash, Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday that will effectively put an end to his policy. Children and their parents will now be detained together until their criminal proceedings come to an end.
A representative for the Customers and Border Protection revealed that the Honduran mother and her child were reunited, and the two are now being held together in a detention centre.
