Watch X's mother, Cleopatra Bernard, accept an AMA on behalf of her late son.

During Tuesday night’s American Music Awards, the late XXXTentacion took home the award for “Favorite Album - Soul/R&B” for his album 17, beating out Khalid’s American Teen and SZA’s CTRL. So to accept the award on his behalf was his mother, Cleopatra Bernard.

Visibly nervous, X’s mom thanked her son’s fans for voting. “I am honored to accept this award on behalf of my son,” she said. “I would like to thank the AMAs, his fans, and to everyone who made this possible. Thank you guys so much, I appreciate it,” she concluded while two guys stood on each side of her.

This came just a day or so after X’s mom was caught in the news for being at the BET Hip Hop Award last weekend where Vic Mensa had some apparent words for X in his BET freestyle. Vic has since apologized to Mrs. Bernard, but still stands by his words in the freestyle, which we’ll have to wait till next Tuesday to hear. Stay tuned.

The American Music Awards isn’t the only award X has received recently either. He also just received posthumously the Best New Artist Award at the BET Hip-Hop Awards last weekend as well. I'm guessing his mother accepted that award as well, which will air on TV next Tuesday (10/16).

Check out X’s mom acceptance speech at the AMA’s (below). RIP X.
