Here's a heavy, hazy new joint from the keepers of the Dallas underground rap scene, the sophisticatedly ratchet trio known as The Outfit TX. "Money Hungry" is a down 'n' dirty ass-shaking jawn that's meant not for a glitzy bottle service club but for a roadside Texas strip shed with the floorboards popping up. As usual, the boys complement smoky melodic drawls with vicious turn-up freestyles. The group's most reliable producers, the duo of Stunt N Dozier, give "Money Hungry" a sinister, skittering analog production.
This is The Outfit's first track since they collaborated with rising Jacksonville rapper Mobsquad Nard on "Whatcha Like" last month. And before that it was one of the best Texas tapes of the year with July's Green Lights: Everythang Goin', which was executive produced by Stunt N Dozier. The project earned The Outfit two well-deserved nominations, for Best Mixtape and Best Rap Act, at this year's Dallas Observer Music Awards. Vote here.
