Andrea Kelly has been vocal about the abusive relationship she survived. Her 13-year marriage to R&B icon R. Kelly was terrifying, riddled with violence and turmoil. During her appearance on The View, Kelly gave more details about the toxic relationship including her close calls with death.
Kelly recounted the time the singer attacked her in a Hummer. A routine beating became all the more horrific when the woman started to lose her vision from being strangled.
"I just remember sitting in the back of the Hummer and it got blue. And I just thought, oh my God, I'm gonna die in the back of this Hummer. And he’s gonna drive off with my body in the back seat, and nobody's gonna know."
She says she suffers from PTSD from this particular event.
In another instance, R.Kelly hod-tied his then-wife. Both of her arms were linked to her legs before the singer decide to hit the sack and fall asleep.
"Me being a dancer, I'm like, 'If I keep moving my legs, it’s eventually gonna make this loose. And if I can get my legs loose, I can get my arms loose.' I finally did and got away."
Kelly says that the most mundane of situations could prompt her ex-husband's abuse.
"It could be anything from the milk being too cold or too warm for breakfast."
