If you’re unfamiliar, PLAZA is a fast-rising singer out of Toronto who signed with Drake’s OVO Sound label back in June. At the time of his signing, Plaza immediately released a new EP called SHADOW, which garnered the attention of many fans & industry folk. Well today, he decides to return to the scene & promote that very project by sharing its first video for “Personal.”
“‘Personal’ was recorded right around the time I released the first EP, ONE,” PLAZA said. “It talks about being at a point where you feel you don’t have much to offer emotionally to a partner. Whether you’d like to or not. It’s all lust, and that can be exciting and it can be dark.”
Directed by Nina Djacic, the video finds the Toronto crooner getting hot & steamy in the backseat of an old Mustang, before the two later ride around the city streets at nighttime. The dark vibe & ambiance matches the feel of the record, and aligns perfectly with the sound & trend coming out of Toronto over the years. You can definitely see why this is stamped by the OVO brand.
