Even though it dropped a little later than we all expected, Nas’ new album finally arrived Friday night called Nasir. Executive produced by Kanye West, the 7-song project features guest appearances from Puff Daddy, 070 Shake, The-Dream, and Kanye, who appears on the Slick Rick-sampled “Cops Shot The Kid.” Nas first premiered the album Thursday night in his hometown of Queens, NYC in front fellow artists & celebrities like Kanye, Kim Kardashian, Chris Rock, Pusha-T, 2 Chainz, Swizz Beatz, and La La Anthony to name a few, but now it’s finally here for the rest of the world to enjoy.
Looking to highlight one of the records, here goes the intro track that kicks things off called "Not For Radio” featuring 070 Shake and vocals from Puff Daddy. The track is anthemic, yet gritty political statement that finds Nas addressing different racial and financial issues he's had to face since getting in the game. There's several references to slavery, religion, and politics, but in a lyrical assault of course.
Take a listen to the new collab and let us know what you think.
Black Kemet gods, black Egyptian gods
Summoned from heaven, blessed, dressed in only Goyard
Homie go hard like stole and rob it in a stolen car
Shoot the ballot box, no voter cards, they all are frauds
Senegal's finest, minerals, diamonds
The earth is cursed but I survive many climates
Calm and thoroughly, they try to Hyman Roth me
John Fitzgerald me, the industry never bought me
