The New York Times reports that MTV2 is planning to resurrect the TV show Hollywood Squares, only making it a hip-hop show called Hip Hop Squares.
Instead of Hollywood celebrities filling the squares, producers will fill many of the nine squares, along with famed figures in the hip-hop world. The show host will be Peter Rosenberg, who is a radio host at Hot 97 in New York. Similar to the old version of the show, contestants will be asked (hip-hop related) trivia, and will be judged on the accuracy of their answers.
There is already a line-up of well-known rappers set to appear on the show, including Fat Joe, Ghostface Killah, Biz Markie, Mac Miller and Machine Gun Kelly.
Paul Ricci, the head of programming for MTV2 said, "The show will refresh an iconic format," adding the program is "more party than game show."
The show premieres on May 22nd at 11 P.M.
