Lil Yachty's Lil Boat 2 mixtape is expected to arrive before the end of the year, and everything we've heard in advance of the project has sounded promising following the somewhat disappointing Teenage Emotions. "Movin' Up" is one of a few new tracks fro Yachty on Quality Control's new compilation Control The Streets Vol. 1.
While Ty Dolla $ign, who has proved he can find common ground with just about any other artist, sounds perfectly comfortable next to Yachty as the two deliver warm melodies over a carefree, summer-y instrumental that sounds like a deconstruction of a beat you'd find on Beach House 3. It's probably a little too breezy to be a hit, but that's exactly the song's appeal. It blows by before you can really register the hook, but you'll find yourself running it back and letting it wash over you.
