The HNHH Freestyle Sessions are back in full effect. The new season kicked off on an impressionable with 16-year old sensation NLE Choppa joining us in the booth, little over a week after Abby Jasmine had done the same right in our NY office suite. This week, we played host to Florida's own Lil Poppa, a rising rapper who built his support base on YouTube and never looked back.
As he states in the opening pre-amble, his follow-up mixtape Under Investigation 2 hit shelves on March 22nd to an overwhelmingly positive reception. With co-signs from Mozzy, NoCap and Polo G, Lil Poppa is seemingly only interested in keeping the right kind of company, as he plots his way up the ranks.
He'll be asked to make certain concessions, but if the news bulletin that precedes "Purple Hearts" is any indication: hip-hop audiences will have to make do with the "uncut real" he gives off on instinct. Jacksonville and its neighboring counties are simply flooded with raw talent - Lil Poppa doesn't take exception to being regarded as Jacksonville's next big hype.
