Kendrick Lamar and the TDE camp have come a long way since their independent run in the 2000s. Kendrick is currently one of the biggest rappers in the world and Top Dawg Entertainment stands as one of the most reputable hip-hop labels right now but their early work foreshadowed the impact they were about to have in the game. Kendrick's Overly Dedicated is a project that might be overlooked by his mainstream fans but it was an early glimpse into the rapper's mind and the rest of the TDE camp. Today, we bring back highlight off of the project for this week's TBT.
"Michael Jordan" was an early cut that found Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q showcasing their undeniable chemistry on wax. Sounwave holds down the production while Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q deliver braggadocious bars about taking your girl. While Q already had a few tapes out, the song came out before his TDE debut, Setbacks in 2011. While Kendrick's career began to make major progressions with the tape, Top Dawg also helped introduce Q to the masses.
