If the Internet's "Roll (Burbank Funk)" was initially a P-Funk send-off, then Kaytranada's remix updates those textures quite significantly. The Kaytra-Remix encompasses elements of Boogie which is to say a style that did away horn instruments in particular. The stripped down effect gives the "Burbank Funk" a nocturnal shift, as if you were coming down from the party. You've exited the venue, you need some air. You happen upon a ventilation duct somewhere in the back room, with the bass line still perceptible in the distance. That's the sinking feeling you're left with on this Kaytra-retouch.

"Roll (Burbank Funk)" released last month, was the Internet's first group effort in some time, not since the release of Ego Death in 2015. Kaytranada is a Montreal-Born producer with a heritage based in Funk records of the 1980s. The groove-based style he employs on "Roll (Burbank Funk)" has become synonymous with his "brand" or rather the music he feels compelled to promulgate. The original video can be streamed here

Enjoy.

Quotable Lyrics:

Star shine so bright
It's all in your heart
They're up so high
It's all in your heart
I wanna fly
Look no further
Let your heart flow
