IDK's arguably one of the most promising young artists in the game right now. The release of iwasverybad marked a perfect introduction to the Maryland emcee. He hailed features fromt he likes of Chief Keef, Yung Gleesh and had the latter join him on his collab with MF DOOM and Del The Funkee Homosapian. He recently popped by our office to chop it up about his latest album, "Pizza Shop," being locked up and more.
IDK recently joined us for a new episode of "On The Come Up" where he got candid about several topics including his time in jail. The rapper explained that his time behind bars shaped him in a positive way and ultimately, helped him discover his writing abilities. His interest in writing has always been there since he was young but being away made him put his focus into music.
"When I went to jail, I got bored so I just started writing music. And then, I was trying to see what it would do. I didn't know if it was good or not then I started rapping it for inmates and everybody was like, 'yo, this is fire like you should do this when you get out.'" He said, "And that's kind of how it all happened."
In addition to speaking on his time behind bars, he also broke down how "Pizza Shop" came together, his marketing tactics for Iwasverybad, his influences and more.
