Over the weekend, we heard Freddie Gibbs' "Alexys," a new song from the Gary, Indiana's comeback album You Only Live 2wice. While the BADBADNOTGOOD and Kaytranada-produced record was as emotionally-charged as Gibbs' best work, the sound quality and censored lyrics left something to be desired (it was ripped from Dr. Dre's Beats 1 Radio show The Pharmacy. Today, Freddie has let go of the full quality version of the song on his SoundCloud. His twisting, textured vocals sound now come through loud and clear. His verse begins with a lucid recollection of his early days of dealing. "I first taste cocaine in 10th grade/Homie at the table chopping Rick James," he snarls, going on to describe the desperation that drove him into hustling.
