Eddie Murphy's making a come-back!

The last we saw Eddie Murphy on the big screen was in 2016's Mr. Church. Since then he's been laying low going through some custody issues with his ex Mel B surrounding their daughter. According to Deadline, the 57-year-old actor is working on his next film that will be a Netflix original about Rudy Ray Moore. Unfortunately, Rudy passed away in 2008, but he's remembered as an African-American comedian known for films under the genre of blaxploitation.

"...As a stand-up comedian, film star and singer he enjoyed decades of acclaim among urban African-American communities. If his profanity-laced comedy routines and no-budget movies appeared to be made strictly for ghetto audiences, he more recently became an icon of ironic urban hip to those nostalgic for black American culture before MTV," Rudy's obituary reads

Rudy's first film was 1975's Dolemite that was based off stories Rudy would hear of a real-life pimp. He turned the stories into a series of records that funded his first movie. From then on out more films followed and Rudy became an underground act known for his unique work.

There's no word on a release date or any of the other cast that may join Eddie, but all in all, it sounds like a project we look forward to seeing.
