Dr. Dre gives back.

Dr. Dre is helping out Compton's youth arts scene in a big way.

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, Dre has put up $10 million to go towards a performing arts complex at the new Compton High School. The complex will be decked out in state-of-the-art equipment and will include a digital media production facility as well as a 1,200-seat theater.

"My goal is to provide kids with the kind of tools and learning they deserve," Dre said in a statement. "The performing arts center will be a place for young people to be creative in a way that will help further their education and positively define their future." He will also be directly involved in the process to procure the remainder of the funding needed to build the complex.

When finished, the performing arts center will be made available to the Compton community at large, although no specifics are known at this time.
