At least Parkey can't be blamed for all of it.
It was a heartbreaking scene when Cody Parkey, the kicker for the Chicago Bears missed a potential game-winning field goal against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Bears were down by one point with just a few seconds left and a successful field goal would have secured a win. Parkey left the field to boos and was visibly upset over missing the kick.
After further review, the missed kick is no longer being ruled as Parkey's fault, but actually, the product of a block from Philly's Treyvon Hester, according to Bleacher Report.
"You can't make this up," Parkey said, according to ESPN. "I feel terrible. I let the team down. That's on me. I have to own it. I have to be a man. Unfortunately, that's the way it went today."
While Parkey probably still feels horrible about the kick, maybe the Bears fanbase will cut him some slack now that it's confirmed that had the ball not been tipped, he could have made the field goal.
