Chevy Woods is getting ready for SXSW in a big way, dropping a five-track free EP entirely dedicated to the Lone Star State. Each track is named after a different city in Texas, and the standout cut is "Houston", which is, as you'd expect, chopped n screwed to perfection. "Houston", as well as the entire project, is produced by Taylor Gang's in-house Ricky P.
We get soaked in that Texas sauce right away, with mega-pitched down vocals leading into a swerved-out hook from Chevy. The rest of the beat rides on hand claps and a dreamy vocal sample in the distant background. We definitely hear echoes of Wiz, and even Ty Dolla, in Chevy's flow here, and it seems like Taylor continues to pursue that stop-go R&B that's suited for the club.
Texas heads: Does Chevy do it proper for H-Town?
If you're lucky enough to be at SXSW, be sure to look out for Chevy and the rest of Taylor.
