Busta Rhymes explains that he has plans to collaborate with both Nicki Minaj and Drake, and has a big track in the works with the latter.
Busta Rhymes may have signed with Cash Money in 2011, but he's yet to officially work with two of the labels biggest stars, Nicki Minaj and Drake. Busta explained in an interview with Rolling Stone that while he definitely has plans to work with both artists (including some half-finished records), nothing has completely alligned yet.
The veteran emcee first spoke of how while he did do an unofficial remix to Nicki's Busta-referencing "Roman's Revenge", he had yet to officially get in the studio with her, though there are definitely plans to. "...and you havenât heard anything with me and Nicki." he said. âRomanâs Revenge (Remix),â that was something I did on my own. It wasnât like an official remix, so technically, we havenât gone in to do a record neither. So, Drake and Nicki, we havenât gone in, no.
Bussa Bus was confident however, that once everything lined up, magic would happen in the studio. "It usually happens when the times are right or when the idea is right. ⦠Weâve talked before. Iâve had several conversations about doing records with Drake, weâve actually been in the studio trying to fuck around. Same with Nicki. It just . . . when we start an idea, sometimes you get distracted. The stars just hasnât aligned yet for that to actually happen. I think also, schedule. Theyâve been shaking consistently for the last two, three years, putting out an album a year.â
The lack of collaborations is also to do with the in-demand artists hectic schedules. âTheyâve been touring, ripping and running. And then when theyâre down, sheâs busy taping this American Idol shit and all of that; Drake is working on a new album. Itâs just hectic, hectic schedules." he explained.
Busta definitely has some exciting prospects though, revealing a big track with Drake that's still in the works. "You can definitely look forward to something eventually coming together, us collaborating. I have something thatâs actually halfway done with Drake on a J. Dilla beat. Itâs incredible.â
