The penultimate XXL Freshman Freestyle is officially upon us, brought forth by none other than BlocBoy JB. The Simi rapper, who previously enjoyed a brief stint as Drake's favorite artist, has joined the likes of Smokepurpp, J.I.D., Ski Mask The Slump God, Lil Pump, Stefflon Don, Wifisfuneral, and YBN Nahmir, holding it down with an acapella freestyle. While it was difficult to gather what manner of approach BlocBoy would take, it seemed entirely unlikely he would come through with the lyricism of J.I.D. or The Slump God. Still, one might have hoped he'd string together something a little more respectable than Smokepurpp or Lil Pump's efforts.

It would appear that BlocBoy has opted for a more melodic approach, spitting a flow which feels tailor made for an instrumental. Keeping true to his trademark bounce, BlocBoy spits double entendres and charmingly groan-worthy bars like "your bitch lick the dick like it was a pacifier," and "XXL, give your bitch the dick and it's XXL." No doubt his energy keeps things entertaining throughout, and it wouldn't be surprising to see this verse pop up on wax in the near future.

It's worth noting that the XXL acapella freestyles are feeling progressively more futile, especially considering the majority of inductees don't really seem to value lyricism at all. Either way, the instrumental cypher should prove more interesting. What do ya'll think, did BlocBoy fare alright?
