Upon the first listen, Mir Fontane and Kodie Shane’s “New Friends” track is a bouncy ode to being wary of the fakes when making your way up the ranks, but a closer look at the cut’s lyrics reveals a much more bitter message as Mir unleashes on the hook: “I was left for dead, now I'm just tryna get my knots up/No sleep in my bed/All my friends are dead or locked up/I don't need new friends/But they always seem to pop up.”
While Mir’s verse takes on similar thematic elements, Atlanta-based rising star Kodie Shane comes through with more buoyant lines as is her modus operandi.
Together though, the duo makes for a flawless pairing and that charisma and chemistry is on full display in the newest video for “New Friends.”
