81 of 85 players polled think Kaepernick should be on an NFL roster.
According to a recent poll conducted by The Athletic, an overwhelming amount of NFL defensive players believe that Colin Kaepernick belongs on an NFL roster right now.
The Athletic questioned 85 defensive players from 25 different NFL teams on a number of QB questions, including whether or not Kaepernick is deserving of a spot in the league.
The study found that 81 of the 85 players voted yes on Kaepernick with only two players saying he should not be in the NFL. Two others responded, "No comment."
When asked which quarterback Kaepernick should replace, 20% of the players polled pointed to Jacksonville Jaguars' Blake Bortles, who was benched toward the end of last season in favor of Cody Kessler. The next most popular choice was former Buffalo Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman, who received 18% of the vote.
Per Bleacher Report:
"Another player expressed his belief that there should be plenty of opportunities for Kaepernick to be part of an NFL roster regardless of his role: "S--t, any team that carries three quarterbacks for sure, the third guy on that roster. And a majority of the teams with two quarterbacks, he should be the backup. And some places he should be the starter.""
Kaepernick, 31, has not played in the league since the 2016 NFL season. The former 49ers QB has filed a lawsuit against the NFL, accusing the 32 owners of collusion to keep him off a team after he began kneeling during the National Anthem.
