Just as we suspected: The Brow stays. Looks like Anthony Davis’s headline-capturing change was fake news orchestrated by the man himself in the spirit of April Fools’ Day after all. It was ahead of the weekend that the New Orleans Pelicans star asked fans whether or not he should shave his unibrow.

With the vote weighing in favor of “Yes” by just two percent, Davis soon uploaded a video of himself supposedly turning his signature feature into two regular, degular, shmegular eyebrows. But not everyone was convinced with fans chalking up the stunt to an April Fools’ joke sponsored by Red Bull.

“Come on y’all,” the big man wrote on Twitter along with a newly-minted selfie. “Y’all knew I wasn’t cutting it […] We got ya!!”

In the original video, Davis had a neatly draped Red Bull towel over his shoulder, and he never used it once. Of course, this isn’t the first time Red Bull has resulted to hijinks for a little publicity with Anthony. Last month, the energy drink company recruited NBA legend Karl Malone as he went undercover as a maintenance man who purposefully interrupted a staged video shoot just to work on AD’s nerves.

In hindsight, the elimination of the unibrow could have never really actualized as Davis actually owns intellectual property attached to his distinguishing feature. It was in 2012, ahead of the NBA draft, that he trademarked the slogans “Fear the Brow” and “Raise the Brow,” popularized during his time on the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team.

“I don’t want anyone to try to grow a unibrow because of me and then try to make money off of it,” Davis told CNBC. “Me and my family decided to trademark it because it’s very unique.”
