Montia Sabbag, the woman who appears in an intimate video with Kevin Hart that has surfaced, is not extorting the comedian, as she and her lawyer stated in a press conference Wednesday. "I am not an extortionist... I had nothing to do with these recordings," said Sabbag, who suggests she is as much a victim as Hart in this situation.
“It is a crime to secretly put cameras in a private place like a hotel room,” Sabbag's lawyer, Lisa Bloom said, according to a report from People. “It is another crime to secretly record people in a private place. It is yet another crime to distribute those images. Montia is the victim of multiple felonies under state and federal laws.”
Bloom also stated that Sabbag and herself will be reporting the crime to law enforcement immediately.
"We invite Mr. Hart to join us in bringing the perpetrator to justice,” Bloom said, requesting cooperation from the comedian. "To the criminal who did this, I say you belong in prison and we are going to find you."
Earlier today, TMZ shared photos taken at a Vegas club the same weekend that the extortion tape was put together. They show Hart and Sabbag touching and intimately interacting in the venue.
Another TMZ report stated that Sabbag requested $420,000 to sit for a lie detector test for Hart. Bloom stated her client "is not demanding money," but did not directly address the lie detector report.
Hart publicly apologized for his actions Saturday. "I'm at a place in my life where I feel like I have a target on my back and because of that, I should make smart decisions. And recently, I didn't," he shared in the video. "You know, I'm not perfect. I'm not going to sit up here and say that I am or claim to be in any way shape or form."
