Smino and producer Terrace Martin were the latest artists tapped for adidas Originals and Yours Truly's ongoing Songs From Scratch series-- it's a simple but effective premise, pair up two artists, bring them into a studio, and create a song, from scratch. The result? "Pecans."
Smino is coming off a relatively successful year, ultimately poising him for even greater success come 2018-- with his album Blkswn making our own year-end list, and we're sure a few others (!). Today's release is a jazzy, silky affair, as to be expected when Terrace Martin is involved. Smino's vocals squeak across the production, blending into it easily, basically acting as an extra instrument alongside Terrace's own. In addition to supplying his voice in an instrument-like manner, Smino also plays live drums on the record.
