Kendrick Perkins understands how serious the De'Aaron Fox injury is. It was announced on Monday that Fox has fractured his index finger in his left shooting hand. The injury will for sure put the Kings in a tough spot in winning the series over the Golden State Warriors. However, Perkins believes that Fox could play through the injury. Because the former NBA big man has dealt with an injury like this before. While discussing Fox's injury on NBA on ESPN, Perkins showed off his damaged finger for the audience.
Perkins' finger looks like it never properly healed. Leading one co-host of the show, Richard Jefferson, jokingly telling Perkins to "Don't do that on TV!" Everyone involved in the segment gasped when Perkins revealed his bust finger to the camera. The injury is a closer look at what these athletes have to deal with every time they step on the floor. However, a fractured finger is no injury to play around with. Injuries have begun to mount up for many stars involved in the NBA playoffs. The injury bug has hit Ja Morant, Joel Embiid, and Giannis and now has made its way to Sacramento. No injury ever happens at the right time. However, the injury to Fox couldn't have come at a worse time for the Kings. The Kings are tied with the Warriors at 2-2 in their first-round matchup. Losing Fox definitely gives the edge to the Warriors if the Clutch Player of the Year is unavailable.
The image of Perkins' finger can put into perspective just what Fox is dealing with. Yes, Perkins is probably having a little fun at the expense of himself and that finger. However, I'm sure if asked, Perkins would like to be able to move that finger a little more freely than he currently can. Which is why the Kings shouldn't rush Fox back into the lineup.
