Stephen A. Smith says there is only one player that makes his team better than the rest.

Stephen A. Smith is ready to cast his vote for the NBA MVP Award. The ESPN First Take crew debated who they believe the winner of the award should be. Smith believes that one player is above the rest. That one player being Philadelphia Sixers star Joel Embiid. Embiid has had a fantastic season. But not everyone is sold on Embiid being the MVP of the 2022-23 season. JJ Redick believes that Giannis is deserving of the award. While it feels that only three names are in the running for the award. Smith gives his reason for choosing Embiid.

The sports media icon says the answer is simple. Smith mentioned that Embiid is the most valuable to his team. It makes sense to give someone an award describing value when you feel that way. Smith believes that if Embiid wasn't on the floor, that the Sixers wouldn't be the team you see today. It's hard to argue with what the Bucks and Denver Nuggets have built around Giannis and Jokic. The Bucks are just two years removed from an NBA Championship victory.

Stephen A. Smith Believes Embiid Is The Deserving MVP

The players involved in the MVP race have more important things to worry about. The NBA Playoffs will officially begin with the play-in tournament this week. With the opening round set to begin on Saturday. All three MVP front runners believe their team has a chance to earn the NBA Championship. Winning the NBA title would potentially outweigh an MVP nomination. However, the honor is still an excellent accolade for any player.

The MVP debate has been a long one. I think we're all ready to just see the winner and move on. However, the discussions will still be going strong after the decision is made. Although someone is going to get snubbed, and that will cause even more chaos in the MVP debate. Additionally, the three athletes at the top of everyone's MVP race are all deserving award. But only one will come out on top. For Stephen A. Smith, the buck stops with Embiid. For the latest news regarding the NBA, keep it right here at HNHH.
