Check out Hopsin's new single & video "The Purge."

It’s safe to say Hopsin has been relatively quiet so far in 2017. In fact, the only thing he dropped off was back in April with the song “Bus That,” but thankfully that’s all about to change soon as the former Funk Volume rapper is ready to get back to work. Back in June, Hopsin made a pubic service announcement admitting to his lack of content recently, but says he’s been stacking “ammo” for us to hear and has a new project on the way.

“I come out of limbo in July. I've been stacking up my ammo because after this project, I ain't leaving for a very long time. I got my album complete, most the videos shot for it and a crazy new ILL mind 9 for youguys. I can admit that I've been kinda slacking these past few years but I finally got my mind right. When this project is out, @undercoverprodigy will also need another artist, aside from myself. I'm still looking.” Hopsin said.

While he didn’t come out of limbo in July, Hopsin did return to the scene today with a brand new single & accompanying video called “The Purge.”

Directed by Hopsin himself, the video portrays a recreation of the events from the movie franchise The Purge, which sees U.S. citizens of the not-so-distant future getting permission to commit any crimes they want for 24 hours straight out of the year. As for Hopsin, he takes on the role of a badass, and hits the streets to kick some ass, rather than hiding out in a house trying to avoid the confrontation.

As for the record itself, it’s a lyrical onslaught that finds Hopsin showing off an insane rhyme scheme, which fans will most certainly appreciate.Check out the official video (above) and be sure to show your support on iTunes. New album on the way. Stay tuned.

Quotable Lyrics:

Yeah, homie G, the cold emcee
Rollin' deep through your vicinity (yo)
I just had an epiphany
I don't know what it did to me
But I'm hopin' the devil doesn't get into me (woah)
I'm still a beast whose enemies finna be
Off the chains with a brand new delivery (yeah)
Try to get in my way, the feelin' of rage
That sit in my brain, then I blast you to smithereens
