Tay-K may have one of the most interesting come-up's in the rap game. It seems that along with XXXTENTACION, his rap career blossomed while he's been in prison, and entangled in legal red tape. "The Race" has undoubtedly become a viral hit that many rappers have since remixed, partially because of its infectious beat and because of the reality behind the song. While many people are praying for his release, his team has been steadily dropping tunes and making sure that his music still circulates while he's gone. Today, he releases the short but sweet joint "Coolin'."
Last a little under a minute and thirty seconds, Tay-K still gets off with his newest song. It keeps into the same way that the race was, more of a freeverse and less of a song but Tay-K still snaps on the record. "Coolin" continues to show Tay-K's incredible ear for production with some trunk rattling drums & very hard kicks. Tay-K comes through with some menacing bars on this one, off the top of the song he raps "Bitch I get the work and I make it do a backflip/ Fuckin with lil' Tay-K, nigga do you want a casket." It's another promising effort from the incarcerated rapper.
After Tay-K dropped "The Race," it helped him garner the attention and support of many high profile artists in hip hop while he's been locked up. If you're unfamiliar with the story, Tay-K was under house arrest, when he cut off his ankle bracelet and then fled to New Jersey. He'd been on the run since March when police officers arrested in June. The 17-year-old rapper's lawyer was confident the rapper would be released during his last court appearance for charges of capital murder, however, instead, the trial got pushed back due to a lack of evidence. Additionally, the Judge made the decision to transfer the 17-year-old to be tried as an adult. While there's no date in place for his trial, we'll be sure to keep you updated once we find out.
