Bam Margera's wife, Nicole "Nikki" Boyd, has filed for divorce from the Jackass star. She cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation, which was filed on Tuesday. In court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Boyd noted that they split up unofficially on Sept. 14, 2021. Additionally, she's seeking legal and physical custody of their 5-year-old son, Phoenix. However, Boyd wants her ex to have visitation rights in Los Angeles. Boyd is also requesting spousal support and for Margera to cover her attorney's fees.

"Nikki Margera felt compelled to file for legal separation from her husband, Bam Margera, due to his continuing drug and alcohol abuse, erratic behavior, and due to his failure to provide support for her and their son," Boyd's attorney David Glass said in a statement provided to PEOPLE. "Nikki has put everything she has into trying to get Bam to stay sober, and to trying to preserve her family."

Margera and Boyd married in October 2013. Their divorce comes after a series of legal issues for Margera. He has also been in and out of rehab for years. After Margera spent time in rehab, last year, Boyd said in a statement: "We love Bam, both as a husband and father. We pray that he will give it all he has this time at this new rehab facility so he can complete his treatment and come home to the family that loves him." Margera was also previously married to Missy Rothstein from 2007 to 2012.

Margera recently hit the road with his Jackass partner, Steve-O, for the latter's comedy tour. Afterward, Margera posted a rant on Instagram calling out Johnny Knoxville and Jeff Tremaine. Steve-O replied to the post by pleading with him to get sober. “You say you want to have a relationship with your son, but your actions guarantee the exact opposite will happen," Steve-O wrote. "I brought you on tour with me in hopes that I could get you to see what’s possible for you if you choose recovery.”
