According to Matt Powell of the research firm NPD Group, the classic shell-toed Adidas Superstar was the best selling sneaker by dollar sales last year in the U.S.
The Adidas Superstar typically retails for $80 which is less than half the price of the Air Jordan 12, the second best selling sneaker in 2016, meaning Adidas sold a TON of Superstars last year.
What's more, 2016 marked the first time that a Nike product has not been on top in more than a decade, although the rest of the best-selling sneaker list was riddled with swooshes.
As many of you know, Jordan Brand released an exhausting amount of Air Jordan 12s last year including the beloved "Flu Game" as well as a plethora of brand new colorways, so it doesn't come as much of a surprise that the sneaker ranked so high.
