N.E.R.D., the group made up of The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, and their childhood friend and vocalist Shay reunited for a strange cause a couple months back, supplying some songs for the soundtrack to the new Spongebob Squarepants movie. While the first song we heard fell squarely in the kid-friendly category, it also featured the focused instrumentation we've come to expect from Pharrell and his cohorts.
"Sandy Squirrel" is no different, presenting a fun-loving funk that features some undeniable hooks from Pharrell, as well as a proper 16 from Shay. Hopefully there's more to come from the trio, but for now we'll take what we can get.
