Kevin Hart is not known for being quiet in any sense of the word and now he's trying to use that persona to do some good for the people of Houston who have been victimized of a horrible tropical storm.
The actor and comedian took to Instagram to share a video in which he issued a challenge some of his fellow celebrities. That challenge: give generously to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Calling it the "Hurricane Harvey Relief Challenge", e specifically calls out Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Dave Chappelle, Steve Harvey and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to help out Houston and make sure that those who can use emergency aid get some as soon as possible. In the video, Hart says that he's been updated as to the goings-on in Houston and that "the s**t is unbelievable." He adds that, with so many challenges that people are entering into or completing online, especially with the help of social media, the time is now to take that energy and help those in need with it.
Hart also confirmed that he would be donating $25,000 to the Red Cross, who are hard at work providing aid to those in Houston and he encouraged the celebrities he mentioned, as well as everyone who happened to be watching, to follow his lead and give what they could. Earlier today, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner acknowledged the video, saying “I wanna thank people like Kevin Hart, who’s already indicating and asking people to give,” as per ABC News. The Red Cross has also put out a call to action on their website, issuing the following statement: "The American Red Cross is helping the people affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and all across the Gulf coast. Shelters are open, truck loads of supplies are being distributed and volunteers in place." You can find out how you can donate here.
Drake was another name from the entertainment community who stepped up and offered his support to those struggling through this natural disaster. He offered his prayers for the victims and shared key phone line info for those who were interested in lending their support as well.
