Cleveland Cavaliers' owner Dan Gilbert is celebrating the city's first championship since 1964 by giving out championship rings to more than 1,000 full-time and part-time employees within the Cavs organization and beyond.
Janitors, ticket takers, security guards, ushers, food vendors inside the Quicken Loans Arena, and others who work behind the scenes will all be receiving special edition championship rings.
While these rings won't be the gaudy, diamond crusted rings that guys like Kyrie Irving, LeBron James and Kevin Love received, it's still a cool gesture from Gilbert and the Cavs. According to Cleveland.com, it will cost approximately $1 million to have these championship rings created.
The Cavs also offered a championship ring to Anderson Varejao, who played in Cleveland for most of the season before being traded to the Warriors in February, though he's still undecided on whether or not to accept it. He has to turn down that offer though, right?
The Akron Beacon Journal reported that David Blatt, who was fired midway through the year and is now coaching in Turkey, would also be receiving a championship ring though Cavs GM David Griffin would not confirm the report.
