While Lil Wayne (and plenty of others) are likely still waiting on money owed to them by Birdman, American Express is waiting on money owed by Wayne. The credit card company filed a lawsuit against Weezy on Thursday, in an attempt to get a large bill paid off.
According to the legal documents, Lil Wayne has been in the red with American Express since December 2015. He reportedly owes them $86,396.75. AmEx is seeking that amount, plus payment for their legal fees.
No word from Lil Wayne's legal team yet, but this is pretty familiar territory for Wayne too. He was sued by his lawyer earlier this year for neglecting to pay him the $300,000 he was due, and he owes the IRS a reported $900,000. We'll keep you posted as the lawsuit unfolds.
