R.I.P. burning man.

Yesterday, we reported the bizarre story of a man who managed to set himself on fire before pacing calmly by the White House. In the video footage, obtained by TMZ, we see the unidentified man running whilst being engulfed in flames, before quickly composing himself and proceeding to walk unhurriedly. The police quickly arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and ceased the fire. No explanations had been given, following the incident, that could explain the strange behavior, however it was revealed that a suspicious package - that was also set in flames - was found near the burning man.

On the site of the incident, it was believed that the man had suffered burns on approximately 85% of his body, after which he was taken to the hospital to be treated. However, news from today reveals that the burning man, who was later identified as Arnav Gupta, has sadly passed away due to said injuries.

The U.S park police that announced his death, also revealed that the investigation into the mysterious episode was being turned over to the Metropolitan Police Department (a representative for the MPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment). This is the second incident of this kind (oddly enough, others have also taken to setting themselves on fire outside the White House) in the past two months, the first being the mysterious man in an electric mobility scooter, who was hospitalized after he lit his jacket on fire outside the White House fence. Could this trend of being "lit" (literally) outside the White House be a political gesture of some sort?
