The criminal case against Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill and his fiancee Crystal Espinal will reportedly be reopened after an audio recording surfaced on Thursday evening.

In the recording, Espinal accuses Hill of breaking their three-year old son's arm, and Hill could be heard replaying, "You need to be terrified of me too, bitch."

News of the case being reopened comes just days after the Johnson County (Kansas) District Attorney's announced that Hill and Espinal would not be charged, because the evidence in the case didn't clearly establish who committed the crime.

"This office has reviewed all the evidence compiled by these agencies and has declined to file charges against Tyreek Hill and Crystal Espinal," District Attorney Stephen M. Howe explained during a new conference on Wednesday. "We are deeply troubled by this situation and are concerned about the health and welfare of the child in question. We believe a crime has occurred. However, the evidence in this case does not conclusively establish who committed this crime."

The Chiefs have already banned the star wide receiver from all team activities, but he could obviously face much more serious legal issues now that the investigation of a criminal case for child abuse has been reopened.

The team released the following statement in regards to the disturbing audio that surfaced on Thursday.

“We were made aware of the audio between Tyreek and Crystal. We were made aware of the information in real time, just like the general public. We were deeply disturbed and concerned by what we heard. We have great concern for Crystal, we are greatly concerned for Tyreek, but our main concern is with the young child.”

“We decided at this time and for the foreseeable future, Tyreek Hill will not take part in any team activities. We are going to gather more information, we are going to evaluate this information, and we will make the right decision regarding Tyreek Hill.”
