Eric Weddle Is Having Second Thoughts On Retirement If Ravens Release Him

Eric Weddle has had a pretty lengthy career in the NFL. The Baltimore Ravens Safety was originally drafted by the San Diego (Now Los Angeles) Chargers back in 2007, where he played for nine seasons before moving on to Baltimore. Weddle has liked it so much with the Ravens, that he said if the team were to release him in the offseason, he would not come back to the league and just retire.

While speaking at the Pro Bowl this past week, Weddle backtracked on those comments but did say he hopes to come to a solution with the team.

"I'm not sure if things are going to get worked out with Baltimore. Obviously, I want to be back," Weddle explained, via the team's website. "[We'll] see if there's something to be worked out. If not, then I've had an unbelievable experience here and loved every second. So, if it does happen, we both move on, and we'll see if I'll play somewhere else or hang 'em up."

Weddle signed a four-year deal with the Ravens in 2016 and still has one year left on the contract. According to Sporting News, the safety will make $6.5 million in 2019.

The Ravens were eliminated in the Wild-Card round by the Los Angeles Chargers.
