Eazy-E will soon be honored in a small town that he has no connection to after a fan pleaded with the town council to memorialize the late rapper's legacy with a statue. Guy Stevens demanded that the Newhaven Town Council erect a statue of the iconic rapper in the town. Although the town council were utterly confused and admitted they had "no idea" who Eazy-E is, they've agreed to have a bench built in Eazy-E's honor.
"It’s a great day not just for myself but for the future of Newhaven. I might push for someone to fly over from America for the ceremony," he told The Argus.
The council was made aware of Eazy-E and his music after doing a Google search. In conclusion, the council said they weren't fan of the rapper's music which apparently offended Stevens.
“They clearly haven’t listened to his song “Sippin on a 40”. But I am grateful they’ve allowed the tribute anyway.”
Stevens has launched a GoFundMe account to help fund the bench in Eazy-E's honor. He's raising £2,000 but has already raised £623 ina two days. Additional funds from the GoFundMe "will be given to local Aids charities in the area so this is all for a good cause," Stevens said.
Stevens argued the town council "wasted money" on a bandstand in Denton Island, Newhaven. Although the council denies they wasted money, they suggested Stevens invite a “local Eazy-E tribute artist” to perform on it.
