The cup seen 'round the world has faded into a distant memory.

Yesterday, an errant cup of Starbucks coffee captivated the attention of the world-at-large, after it was spotted during a scene in the latest Game Of Thrones episode. Naturally, many memes came to follow, prompting HBO to issue a tongue-in-cheek response: “that latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.” While everyone had a laugh at the cup's inadvertent inclusion, it would appear that HBO has officially purged the mistake from existence, as pointed out by The Verge

Subsequent airings of "The Last Of The Starks" will find the coffee cup entirely removed, a change that has already been placed in effect. HBO themselves confirmed the removal to EW, stating “HBO confirms the cup has now been digitally edited out of existence from Westeros on its streaming services. It exists now only in our memory. And in hundreds of screengrabs and memes.”

It feels like the change was inevitable, given that the cup ultimately stole attention from an otherwise plot-heavy episode. For those who might lament the loss of the anachronistic little visitor, rest assured that Dany's herbal tea will exist forever in our hearts.
