Johnny Manziel, who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and eventually ousted from the NFL for his various off-the-field problems, was given a second chance in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Manziel played with the Montreal Alouettes last season but this week, the quarterback was released and ultimately banned from the league entirely as he allegedly broke the terms of his contract. There are no specific details as to what he actually did but as former CFL and NFL quarterback Warren Moon told TMZ Sports, perhaps Manziel meant for this to happen.

"Maybe he did that on purpose," Moon questioned. "Because now there's other options out there. There's more opportunities for him to play in the United States than play in Canada, so maybe that's part of the reason why he violated some of those restrictions in his contract."

With the AAF in the middle of their inaugural season and the XFL coming next year, there will be some options for Manziel to enter the league. Although, the quarterback did issue a statement this week thanking the Alouettes organization for their help.

"I want to thank Coach Sherman, my teammates, and the CFL fans. My time there reestablished my love for the game of football and the work that goes into it," Manziel said.

For now, Johnny Football's future in football is uncertain, but we'll probably be seeing him on the field again in due time.
