Microsoft lays out an ambitious, multi-platform gameplan.

Xbox Live has withstood the test of time, still going strong after originally launching with the original Xbox console, back in 2002. A pair of consoles later, the service remains a staple in online multiplayer. Now, Microsoft has laid the groundwork for their upcoming plan, which is ambitious to say the least.

According to a report from Gamespot, Microsoft plans on bringing Xbox Live services to both the Nintendo Switch and Mobile platforms, with the intention of "enabling game developers to connect players between iOS, Android, and Switch in addition to Xbox and any game in the Microsoft Store on Windows PCs."

Microsoft plans on elaborating on the process during the GDC, during a session titled "Xbox Live: Growing & Engaging Your Gaming Community Across iOS, Android, Switch, Xbox, and PC." Apparently, should all go smoothly, Xbox Live access will be granted to over two billion devices worldwide.

Unfortunately for PSN users, Microsoft and Sony don't seem ready to share the sandbox yet. As of now, Xbox Live will not be making to move to Sony's PS4. More details will likely emerge after the GDC transpires between March 18th and 22nd.
