It's been a big year for Jacquees. The singer released four projects this year including his debut album, 4275 and his third installment of the Quemix series. He caught backlash for his remix of Ella Mai's "Trip" which was subsequently taken down from YouTube and Soundcloud after DJ Mustard issued a cease and desist. Jacquees maintains that he and Ella Mai are still cool, but recently admitted that they haven't spoken since the incident.
During an interview with Breakfast Club, Jacquees went into detail about his relationship with Ella Mai after the whole fiasco surrounding his "Trip (Quemix)." The singer said that he still has love for Ella Mai and her craft, but they haven't really had much dialogue in recent times.
"Shout out to [Ella Mai]. 'Cause her really my homie," he said. "I ain't talk to her since all that shit happened."
He continued to explain how everything went down on that situation. He revealed that his first encounter with the U.K. songstress was during Chris Brown's Heartbreak On A Full Moon tour where he served as an opening act. Ella Mai went on to praise Jacquees' work, saying that she's been listening to his music for 6 years.
"We was friends, we still friends, you know what I'm sayin'? I ain't gon' say was, because I'm a real n***a," he said. "That's still my dawg. And I understand she a female and I understand that she's surrounded by a bunch of n***as."
