After Pete Davidson cracked a few jokes about his short-lived engagement with Ariana Grande, the Sweetener singer clapped back with her latest single, "Thank U, Next." The track, which serves as the lead single and title song off her next project, received immediate praise after its release. Now, her brother has chimed in and revealed his first reaction to hearing the song.
Speaking to E! News, Frankie Grande praised his sister for her latest song and revealed that he cried when he heard it for the first time.
"I am unbelievably proud of my sister. This project that she has been working on, it's from the heart. If you listen to the lyrics...I sobbed and I cried the first time she played it for me. When she said, 'I met someone else / And her name is Ari,' I wept. Because it's a message of self-love!" He said.
Frankie also said that Ariana is feeling "empowered" after releasing the song this past weekend.
"She's so, so unbelievably happy," he said. "She's so pleased with the reception to the song, too."
He added, "We are happy that she is happy, and the message is just so powerful. It's helping other people, too. Like, she's helping other people get through difficult times and difficult breakups! I think that that's really the best part about this whole thing: being able to help another person."
