Michelle Williams is said to have checked into a mental health facility. The music star has been struggling with depression for years and is now taking action to benefit her health. Williams, who is part of the multi-platinum RnB group Destinys' Child, is receiving treatment in a facility outside of Los Angeles. The artist is reported to have been there for several days already. Michelle made a statement on Tuesday addressing her decision:
"For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it's time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing." the 37-year-old continues, "Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need."
This news comes as a shock to many even though the singer has been candid about her mental health in the past. During her appearance on the view, she opened up about being depressed at the height of her success with her girl group: “I didn’t know until I was in my thirties what was going on. I just thought it was growing pains. I’ve been suffering since the age of between 13 and 15. At that age, I didn’t know what to call it.”
